Class Descriptions:
Please see our calendar for specific dates/times for the classes listed below:
Gentle Yoga and Stretching: This class focuses on gentle stretching, breath awareness and relaxation skills. Yoga poses are introduced in small steps so that students will feel confident in moving toward the full expression of poses when they are ready. We will use chairs and other props in this class. Beginners/Seniors. Group and individual sessions available by appointment.
Beginners' Yoga: Basic Hatha yoga poses and breathing techniques are offered so that each person can work within their own comfort zone, while increasing flexibility, and building strength and body awareness. We will present small, very useful and encouraging steps, making yoga accessible to those who may not practice otherwise. No "pretzel" poses! Beginners.
Slow Flow: Yoga poses are linked together so that one pose flows gracefully into the next. Sun Salutations plus standing, and floor poses will be offered as "meditation in motion." Emphasis on the mind/body/spirit connection. Beginner to Intermediate.
Hot Yoga: This is a challenging 90 minute Hatha yoga class in a heated room, designed to stretch and strengthen 100% of your body. Please bring water, a towel and a mat, and be prepared to sweat. Beginner to Intermediate.
Warm Yoga: Based on the popular Hot Yoga class, this class will provide modifications to the poses as well as less heat. The room will only be heated to 85 degrees, instead of the 100+ degrees in Hot Yoga. Please drink extra water before the class, and bring a towel and a bottle of water. 90 minutes. All levels.
Yoga Plus: In this class we will taste a bit of everything: yoga, low impact aerobics, a little chi kung, walking meditation, then more yoga. If you want to round out your fitness program, come check this class out. By request.
Yoga for Seniors: As we get older, we may think it is inevitable that we will lose our flexibility, strength and balance, not to mention our mental clarity. By taking the time to stretch, breathe and release tension, we are more likely to be able to maintain overall health at any age, but specifically as we get older. We will use chairs, blocks, straps and the wall to support us in our stretching. We will also practice modifications to basic yoga poses. Taught by Theresa. Group and individual sessions available by appointment.
Prenatal yoga: Gentle Yoga and Stretching designed to keep expectant mothers...and others...strong and limber during a time of mental and physical changes. Props and mats provided, but you may bring your own pillow if you want to. All levels. You do not need to be pregnant to participate, but be prepared to hear a lot about babies, etc.! Special deal: $30. For 6 classes.
Tai Chi/Chi Kung: Tai Chi focuses on moving chi (energy) throughout the body with continuous flowing movements combined with mindful breathwork. It is excellent for releasing stress, improving balance and lowering blood pressure. For more class times and locations, please call Saun at 707-954-9824.
Meditation Group: Mindfulness/awareness meditation practice designed to connect us deeply with our hearts, minds and bodies. Beginners welcomed. Short meditation sessions (10-20 minutes) alternate with group discussions, readings, and walking meditation, for an hour filled with methods to enrich life and help us deal with day-to-day stresses and strains.
